Structural Integration is a form of bodywork that uses fascial release techniques and movement education to help clients with pain, postural compensations and movement restrictions.
Structural Integration is a project that has a clear beginning, middle and end for clients. We use visual/ structural assessments to plan an individual strategy for the client.
BodyReading is a big piece of our training. Being able to globally assess the body and understand how the client’s shoulder problem, could be coming from somewhere further down the chain. Perhaps the pelvic tilt (one side higher than the other) or the rib shift (rib cage is off centre) has taken away support for the shoulder, and unless we address the pelvic pattern first, we can’t give the shoulder the support it needs.
We look at movement assessments and gait, looking at how the client’s patterns or restrictions are translating into movement.
ATSI is for health professionals who are looking to add to their skills, or offer a different way of looking and working with clients.
Supported by our experienced teaching and administrative staff, we will guide you into a new relation to your own body and to that of your clients, progressively building your skills and your understanding in making deep and lasting structural pattern change.
The full ATSI program comprises of 58 days of training.
The ATSI Professional certification is done in 4 Easy Steps:
Step 1: Anatomy Trains in Structure & Function
Step 2: ATSI Part I – Structural Essentials – 6 workshops
Step 2: ATSI Part 1- Structural Essentials is also available in intensive format
Step 3: ATSI Part II – Structural Strategies – 9 Days
Step 4: ATSI Part III – Structural Integration – 31 Days
(You have to have completed Anatomy Trains in Structure & Function, ATSI Part I Structural Essentials & ATSI Part II Structural Strategies to be accepted into ATSI Part III – Structural Integration)
Structural Essentials is the beginning of your ATSI Structural Integration journey and will be a mixture of Manual techniques, theory and body reading.
There are 6 Structural Essentials modules that form Part 1 of the ATSI training. You must take all 6 modules to be able to carry on through the training. The modules are best absorbed in the order suggested below, but can be taken in any order
The 6 Structural Essentials modules are a set of intensive soft-tissue technique courses. These modules are part of the ATSI training but can also be taken as stand alone modules if you just want to further your anatomy knowledge and gain new techniques. They are divided into functional regions.
Integrate all of the information you have learned in the previous workshops (ATS&F & the 6 Structural Essential workshops), to create one powerful package: our unique 3 session series.
During this in-depth and intensive training you will develop a full-body vision, applying the postural assessments already learned and integrating them into a complete understanding of the relationships throughout the body. Using Thomas Myers’ Anatomy Trains as the model for the interpretation of structural and functional compensations, you will be equipped with the functional analysis tools to be able to design and perform the Structural Bodywork series, which can produce powerful and lasting changes for your clients.
(Structural Vision can only be taken if you have completed an Anatomy Trains prerequisite workshop and the 6 Structural Essential modules).
The 3 session series you will learn will give you the ability to balance the lower body (first session), the upper body (second session) and the spine (in the third session). The series allows the client to regain a sense of completion and connection in their body, being able to use it as a communicating and co-operative whole rather than a set of individual parts, bringing efficiency and integration to their system.
Once you have completed Structural Strategies, your knowledge can be further expanded through our advanced Structural Integration Training, to also encompass the mind-body connections and expand on the skills taught in this section.
All of our teachers are highly trained and experienced practitioners. They are able to use a range of teaching methods to help you to hone your touch skills, ensuring a confident and accurate engagement of the fascial tissues in each part of the body. Our teachers are up to date with current research and thinking on bodywork approaches to the body, and will give you the opportunity to blend your current skills with the new ideas demonstrated allowing you to evolve your own unique style of myofascial bodywork.
Students who will be continuing on to ATSI Part 3: Structural Integration will need to complete two papers and 16 (3) series sessions (total 48 sessions).
We hope you can join us on this exciting journey.
The final piece of the ATSI Training takes you through the 12 series’. In this program, students will build on their knowledge and experience in learning the anatomy, theory, and practice of the 12 series of Structural Integration. Students will work with classroom partners and also with outside models, receiving valuable feedback and guidance from the highly skilled and experienced Anatomy Trains faculty.
Supervised instruction in the 12 series
Full spectrum clinical application
Starting and building a practice
Quizzes, review of client session notes, an overview essay and manual work evaluation
Graduation is at the discretion of part 3 instructors
Certification, website and directory listings are dependent on completion of all course work.
Please note, in addition to the classroom based ATSI Training, all applicants must receive an ATSI 12-session series (or other SI 10-series). We require written confirmation from a certified SI practitioner (e.g, ATSI, Rolf, IPSB, Hellerwork, Core etc) before the end of ATSI Part II – Structural Vision. Applicants also need to undertake testing, self study and submit essays during ATSI Part 2: Structural Vision and ATSI Part 3 – Structural Integration
Please Note: In order to attend ATSI Part 3: Structural Integration you must have completed an Anatomy Trains prerequisite workshop, ATSI Part 1: 6 Structural Essentials, ATSI Part 2: Structural Strategies and all other requirements must have been satisfied and met.
